^^^It was into.

^Are you a junior or a senior, and are you applying to any top 20 schools? Most require the ACT + Writing and/or the SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests (blech).

As far as the prompt, it was fun. I used Amanda from The Glass Menagerie, JFK, and a personal experience from MUN as my body paragraphs. I have yet to get below an 11 on the last 2 tests, so I hope this one is just as good.

no the correct answer was he sunk his earnings back INTO his company.

me!i thought the prompt was dumb.

yeah^ thats why im doing plus wrting.

Wake Forest
Penn- Yeah Right
Gtown
Duke
Rice
Chicago
UCLA
UCB
and KU- Full Ride.

That’s what I said.

@sam i am: yeah i pretty much guessed on it too but you seemed to be the only one who remembered it…

i kind of liked the writing prompt but i haven’t taken the act before so i don’t have much to compare it to…but i thought it was broad which was nice.
did you guys say yes or no? i said yes because even if ideally we want to dress how we want societal norms don’t allow us to… haha. :P

I thought the prompt was alright…I did not think it out enough and went in favor of clothing
Now that i look back upon it, I would have had a much easier time going against it.
I was short on time and had to throw a few counter sentences in front of my conclusion.
Maybe a 10-11 if I’m lucky a 12 but that would only be if the reader enjoys my sarcastic sense of humor.

What was the prompt?

For the prompt I said no and I used Jefferson, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, and a personal experience for my body paragraphs. Personally I thought the question was really stupid, obviously people are going to judge you by appearance whether you like it or not, so in the real world it is always important to dress appropriately. On the other hand, I am really thankful that it was a question I could use examples from history and literature on.

Something along the lines of ~Should people judge a person based on what he or she is wearing?~

it was like do you believe that people should dress up to make a certain image of themselves or something.

jefferson, tom sawyer and huck finn?!
so formal… god that makes me feel like crap about my essay
i wrote about clowns and school uniforms -_-
crap im not feeling too great about my essay

That’s a pretty stupid prompt. Prompts along the lines of “Should x do y?” when x is bound to do y no matter what are pretty asinine.

Good job SAM I AM! My brain was fried by then and i could not think back on my past knowledge. (My mind was still counting rows at the theater- the one freaking problem in math i got wrong- I put 45 and i figured it out during the 10 minute break, but the proctor was right behind me so there was no way i could ever change it)

Your essay was probably really good actually. I think the readers like a little bit of originality. I wish I could read the clowns paragraph, lol.

for the writing, i just said yes, people should convey their inner personality. I used stereotyping, and personal experiences from theatre…
and i don’t know if it’s been asked before but in the black guy prompt on the English there was a question about him forming his own company(then you put either a colon or semicolon) the Lincoln Whatever…which punctation mark is it?

and for the one about the dollhouse, for her favorite part, the chandelier, what punctation, if any, went after that

Thanks Moose91! I tried really hard to work on coming up with history and lit. examples for my essays before this test so it was a relief to be able to use them.

Ha, that was one of the things about the English section that made me laugh. There were like three questions where using a colon was one of the answers, and every time using the colon was right. I was like, “Really? Three questions about how to use a colon?”

i never know when to use a semi colon or a colon…i think i used the colon in both situations…but i was really not sure

same here, def used a lot more colons.
