Obviously @Ae1231 does! Haha couldn’t resist.
I was trying to go back and find a post from earlier that I made because it had a link in it I needed. So I saw it when I was trying to go to my activity section.
Good catch!
On a side note, what are “Invites”?
I think it is a way to send an email invitation to someone to set up an account.
I couldn’t help but notice Reddit went public today and is already up 44%.
This is after raising $748 million on a valuation of $6.4 billion.
I, for one, have no clue about reddit. Others have explained it to me - but I was just thinking about this thread.
Clearly the folks owning this site - must have this type of success in mind or $$ signs in their eye balls.
I just wish I understood how any of these social media sites work…I don’t.
unfortunately reddit covers too many broad topics for much of that to be applicable to CC, i think
How about adding a college debt calculator? It seems like there are plenty of private student loan lenders that love to advertise on such pages.
I see many online already, but they all seem to lack something. Even if they allow you to build out loans over several years they often don’t account for origination fees and I’m not sure how some handle the subsidized portions of student loans either.
It would be even better if one could add and compare debt loads of different college offers to help students/families really understand the future obligations of their college choices.
Do you have an update regarding this premium subscription proposal? Just curious to know what’s next with this.
Also, with regards to:
It seems one of the challenges is that the site isn’t “sticky” for a lot of posters. They come post a chance me thread or ask other questions, and when they’re done getting answers they move on. I thought of two things that might help increase “stickiness” and drive more traffic to this site:
- Partner with colleges (at least the popular ones most commonly cited on CC) to host a prospective students’ information and Q&A thread. Similar to AMA but it can be open for months. College reps can post updates throughout the admission cycle, including announcing when decisions will be released.
- There are college-specific parent groups on Facebook to support parents of college students. Why not host such groups here on CC? I know a lot of people don’t use FB anymore and some have reluctantly stayed on or joined only to be part of these groups. We could provide them a better experience here.
As an example (for point 2 above), here’s a thread discussing an external FB parent group. A group like this could be hosted on CC, keeping those parents here on this site.
I joined this group for my 2024 high school graduate and found it very helpful. Thank you for hosting this prospective site!
Agreed. Several of the Parents of 20XX groups end up creating their own FB groups as an offshoot to the CC group. It happens a lot when there is a big formatting change that makes it difficult to navigate CC.
In those FB groups, there is a lot of initial chatter, but they kind of die out. The two FB groups that I joined have approximately 40 people with less than one message every couple of weeks. I don’t know how that compares to the data of the people who stay on the 20XX groups on CC.
To be clear, I’m referring to Parent Class of 2021, 2022, 2023, etc. where the students have graduated HS and are enrolled in college. The parents are no longer looking for information about colleges or college applications but want to stay connected socially with the people they befriended on the Parent Class of 20XX pages.

Right. And since many posters stay on here mainly to socialize, we should look to keep these parents here.
@CC_Mike the “billing” tab is still on my profile and summary pages. Are you doing anything with it? I won’t click on it!

The CC Premium was currently put on a bit of hold as the team is working through other more timely priorities. We will communicate when we are ready to make the subscription package available.
Thanks for the update @CC_Sorin.
However, my two suggestions are for increasing site traffic and not related to premium subscription. @CC_Mike had raised a point about our traffic not being enough to bring in sufficient ad revenue, and I was addressing that.
