What country are you from?
NYU Med only accepts American and Canadian students:
Either way, NYU gives lousy aid for undergrad, and likely gives little/no preference for admission to their med school as they pride themselves in having very high reporting MCAT and GPA numbers for their med students.
If you were to get into a US MD med school, do you have the means to put the total cost of 4 years of med school in escrow? Med schools are now requiring that int’l students deposit the entire cost of 4 years into an escrow account. They had to do this because too many int’l med students had to drop out because they secured funding for year 1 or 2, but no funding for the remaining years. No med school wants students dropping out!
Most med schools give no preference to their school’s undergrad applicants. This is often misunderstood my high school and college students. I recently had a parent contact me because UPitt didn’t “at least interview” her son because he went to undergrad there. UPitt undergrad has over 300 med school applicants. There’s no way that UPitt med could be expected to interview most/all of them!
For example: Vandy Med only accepted 21 Vandy applicants to their med school out of a Vandy applicant pool of 157…and that’s pretty typical. (Vandy regularly publishes this sort of data, so I used it as an example)
