I got accepted into the out of state university and I’ve made plans to enroll there . However I need to fulfill just one lower level general education requirement that I need at the out of state university. Its very expensive to complete at the out of state university (non-resident tuition) where essentially I am supposed to be doing all upper requirements. I believed it would be okay to take classes concurrently at two colleges, as long as I only received federal aid at one. I’ve seen many students do it, especially in California CCs & universities.
I only plan to file a FAFSA and use financial aid with the out of state university.
Even with financial aid, the non resident tuition is expensive and I’ll still need to take out loans.
Now the issue is, I never used FAFSA to qualify for the BOG fee waiver. Getting my BOG fee waiver approved is a challenge due to tricky income issues, but nonetheless I’ve been able to get it. I haven’t filed a FAFSA or used federal financial aid in over 6 years. I’m an independent student. Anyways, to reiterate, my concern was if my community college would see the FAFSA I submit and if that would affect my state funding/BOG fee waiver?
Would filing a FAFSA now, backtrack or apply to the previous colleges/terms in this same academic year (which is NOT what I’m hoping for)? Secondly, now I’m not sure if I can even enroll in both colleges at same time (I’ll only be receiving federal aid at one)?
Thanks everyone.
