Financial Aid

See the following website for EFC info. Also, your FAFSA should have already told you this at the very top of the SAR report they send after you submit the FAFSA.

Each student’s FA “package” will vary as you are probably already aware from other posts. So, it’s really hard to predict yours. GW gives FA BOTH “Need-based” and "Merit-based. They make a package of both. They usually try and meet your “Need” which is the COA (Cost of Attendance) - EFC.

If you have good SAT’s/GPA you’re likely to receive an Academic Scholarship renewable for 5 years. Amounts vary but can be as high as 30-35K/yr. Have to keep your GPA > 3.0.

There are also Grants - free money! then Loans, Work study.

Just because a family makes > 100K/yr doesn’t mean you won’t receive any of these. It comes down to your grades/EFC. You know your Grades/Test Scores - calculate your EFC and then your “Need” and you’ll have a good idea where things stand. The awarding of scholarships, however, is variable each year in terms of minimum GPA/SAT’s depending on the strength of the class and money available.

My “S” received 30K/yr “Free Money” in scholarshps/Grants and our income is above the 100K threshold you mentioned. SAT’s 2100, GPA 3.87, 7AP’s.

Good luck
