So I got my award letter, I accepted It and everything but my account balance is -$6,003
Why Is It Negative? Is that how much I owe? Or Is that the refund I will receive?
If It Is how much I get on my refund when will I get It.
Call the school’s financial aid office and ask them.
Probably a refund, but just add up the charges (tuition, fees, insurance room and board) and then add up all the sources of grants, scholarships and loans. If the second number is higher than the first, you’ll get a refund (if you want the loans).

What did your award consist of? Is some of that from a loan?
Yes, 2 of then were loans and the other was Pell Grant
Do you live at home
I would suggest turning down the unsub loan if it’s not really needed. If you can, set aside the subsidized loan to help pay for college when you transfer.
Why would you ask this question here instead of calling the Financial Aid office? We are only guessing.

I understand it. I don’t justify it or think it’s a good idea, but I understand why it’s done. In general—yes, I am generalizing—the cohort of young people under age 30 have very under-developed phone skills. I have noticed this in business, and my sibling notices this with customers, who are generally young people. it’s common for them not to know how to fulfill an information need by phone. The other piece of it is that many of them are concerned about appearing dumb or getting chastised or getting it wrong when they communicate by phone.
I made sure my children know how to use the phone to make appointments and get clarification on their information needs! And they do it well.
