<p>Is there is anyone at Mudd who gets the $10K merit award, can you tell me if it offsets the need-based Mudd Scholarship? </p>
<p>I’m pretty sure that they will offset. S1, a frosh, has the $10K and NM scholarships, but did not have a need-based scholarship last year despite qualifying for a subsidized loan and work study. </p>
<p>Then again, maybe the merit award will offset some other aspect of the need package, and not the scholarship/grant. That may be negotiable, particularly with a very strong applicant like your son; won’t hurt to try. (We didn’t try to negotiate because of anticipated ineligibility for financial aid after first year.)</p>
