Every mention of any kind of homosexual behavior in the Bible condemns it as an abominable practice. I don’t find it persuasive to argue that these were intended only to apply to some particularly narrow situations, and that except for these, the Biblical writers thought homosexuality was OK. To me, that’s contrary to the general approach to sexuality in the Bible (especially in the New Testament). I think those ancient people believed that homosexual sex was sinful. What impact that has on what people think about it today depends on how you interpret and use Biblical propositions, and of course, that’s ultimately up to you to decide.

They also thought the earth was flat. That leeches would cure disease. Who cares? This somehow justifies what exactly?

All you people are heretics, and will fry.
And your progeny will not get into college.

Zeus told me.

You sure it wasn’t a zombie who told you, monydad?

Sure, joke now, you won’t be joking when the thunderbolt hits.
Besides, I don’t do Facebook.

My point is just that I think it makes more sense to decide whether you agree with them, as opposed to trying tortuous (and to me, far-fetched) arguments that seek to suggest they didn’t really mean what they were saying. On the flip side, it’s like the people who try to argue that the Biblical characters weren’t really drinking wine, because they’d like the Bible to condemn consumption of alcohol.

You don’t have to “do” facebook to see the zombie pages. They have ways of making things happen…

I don’t remember saying anything specific about anal sex. But maybe I did. I need more caffeine. ;)

Should we also be discussing heterosexual anal sex?

And nobody should be violating Marian’s implied injunction.
Except Zeus, if he wants.
And Hermes, that rascal.
Ok actually any of them.

Sorry Marian. I thought you were impatient with non-college related issues. No offense intended.

Ah, if we could talk about Poseidon we’d loop back to our famous thread to end all threads on college admissions – garland’s masterwork.

ya know usually I * like* a little somethin, somethin in the morning?
But somehow this thread is the opposite.

After reading the entire thread I see that the OP (“original poster”)has not commented. After 11 pages, it seems fair to assume that the OP gained the advice sought, and more that was not sought.

Thanks to all for participating.
