My daughter also lives in Glover Park and likes the bus better than the Metro. The only issue has come with the bus service being cut on the late night and weekend buses. This means longer wait times to get a bus, or relying on cabs at these times. Also during the snow, my daughter couldn’t get a bus to work because by the time it got to her stop, the buses would be full; less buses running the route then, so more riders than they could handle.

Knowing how paralyzed DC gets when it snows, bus transportation could certainly be problematic. In that case, I doubt he’ll be the only one with commuting issues.

I’m also going to have him save a cab company’s number on his phone for those times he has no alternative but to use a cab. Welcome to city living.

My son is in a studio in Dupont Circle for 1150/month inclusive except cable. Borger Realty has a lot of buildings. He is in one of them. If your son is in walking distance of work, he saves money he would otherwise pay on the Metro. My son loves living in Dupont Circle… his girlfriend lives in Adams Morgan and likes it there as well.

Neither S nor I saw any studios in Dupont Circle for that price. Maybe there are no vacancies now or we just didn’t look in the right place. S, who tends to be shy & quiet, was also looking for roommates which we thought would be a good idea for him.

He’s budgeted for transportation. He doesn’t have a car, so what he has to pay for Metro is affordable.
