FIOS - Negotiation Tactics or Moving On

Be careful when comparing TVs in the stores. Usually the colors etc are not correct due to the florescent lights in the stores that you won’t have in your house. It makes a big difference. The stores will turn up temp, contrast, color. etc to compensate. When you get it home it will never look like it did in the store.

First try adjust the adjustments yourself to get it to a film like quality. The blacks etc will appear more natural. There are things on you tube etc. You can buy blue rays and DVDs to do this also and walk you through it. There are video calabration ones you can get.

These threads make my blood pressure go up all over again. We were 20+ year DirecTV customers. They didn’t care. H always threatened to leave. They told him he “needed to earn back” any discounts. Hmphhhh! We move, cancel, and get 4 months of offers for $19.95/month for 24 months. Took 3 months to get them to cancel the bill.

Frontier–worthless landline with horrible call quality and internet with a whopping speed of 3…again, 3 months to cancel.

We have the $25 little white antenna and no landline. I wouldn’t go back to either of those companies if they had free service!

We’re lucky where I am. We have at least four internet/cable providers, maybe five. Google Fiber, Spectrum, Consolidated, AT&T, maybe something else. We pay $150/month for internet and cable with DVR on Google Fiber. Gotta have cable for local baseball and I watch HGTV, Science, Natgeo, political tv, etc. If it goes up too much I’ll check one of the other providers.

I tried one last time with Verizon, and went from another online chat to a telephone call (their recommendation), where for a reduced rate, they agreed to provide us with the same programming, new equipment, and their fastest internet connection. In addition, they promised to credit $100 to offset their “required” upgrade charges. It’s likely that this is our last two-year agreement with them before we cut the cord completely, but maybe the landscape will have changed significantly by then.

I do appreciate everyone’s thoughts, experiences, and advice here. Thanks!
