Ok, I’m confused. Patience with this Fitbit newbie please!
@fireandrain - so can you explain further to me. Before you ran your steps were 6841. Then you ran 3.81 miles - did you use the press the button for 3 seconds to vibrate way to log your activity at beginning and end or did you just run and then manually enter in a 4 mile run? Either way why were your steps only 600-700 higher after running 4 miles???
I’m trying to understand! I’ll take my first run tonight with my Charge HR.
@abasket – Before I ran my step total was zero. After I ran, but BEFORE I logged my run, my step total was 6841. After I logged my run, by inputting that I ran 4 miles in 40 minutes, my step total rose to 7469. I think my steps are undercounted, because I take long strides.
So I used the method of starting an activity by holding the start button on the “watch” for three seconds and doing the same at the end of the activity. Ran 4.5 miles and both my RunKeeper app AND the fitbit activity showed almost exact same mileage.
I’ll have to figure out the ideal way to record things.
@abasket – charge should hold for well more than a week, although I suppose if you are very active, it might drain faster. I walk 20K steps/day and 75+ flights/day and definitely can go more than a week w/o charging my FitBit One.
When I first got the device 3+ years ago (earlier model), I felt that it was crediting me with too many steps. It then went the other way, and seemed to count too few, then seemed to stabilize. Not helpful, I realize.
Right- which is why I often figure a 110% overage. Also, I wear it on my dominant arm - left - which is a must for me cause that has been my watch wearing hand forever!
@abasket - do you have your fitbit set up for dominant wrist? If so, I assume there is some sort of formula to take this into account. I set mine at non-dominant.
Mine only holds a charge for 3-4 days. The charge held for about 2 days when I had it set for all day sync. I manually sync it when I wake up, once in late afternoon and before bed.
I have the Charge HR. I had it set for dominant wrist - but I’ll double check since I got my replacement one last week…and I’ll also consider changing from all day sync - like MOWC, I get a little anal checking it often!
