Sewhappy - I will give it a shot, but then the extra skin will just be softer. The skin isn’t really dry, it just needs to be clipped off! I think a quick snip, a few stitches and I would be good to go!

^^^^^I can do weights. It’s jogging I can’t stand. I can’t get my intensity level enough by walking (can’t do incline because of my back), so I have to do intervals of jogging/running/walking. Very hard for me.

Nrdsb4 - At the risk of eliciting a collective groan - have you ever thought about racewalking? Done properly, I guarantee you can achieve a very high intensity level. You may feel a little ridiculous initially, but the benefits are substantial. The only reason my arms haven’t really gone downhill in the absence of weight lifting, is that racewalking definitely tones arms, shoulders and back.

^^^I really haven’t looked into it. I know there is a certain technique involved. I could see myself throwing my back out if I did it incorrectly as it doesn’t take much. Do you have to take lessons? Watch a video?

You shouldn’t throw your back out if you racewalk properly.

I essentially taught myself by reading a book by Dave McGovern, “The Complete Guide to Racewalking.” I entered a couple of competitions and did fairly well so I attended one of his clinics. Later I met Jeff Salvage who has a great DVD and also does clinics with a former Olympian, Tim Seaman. If you have any interest in learning, PM me and I will give you more ideas. Racewalking is great for your arms, and is low impact so it is easy on the knees.
