Flip This House #3

Oh, how unbelievably sad. Sounds like you’re making lots of progress, despite these setbacks. Hang on there!

Unimaginably sad. :frowning:

The fellow was a prince to come to the house for you, cb. That deserves a special condolence note.

Glad to hear drywall will be going up soon. Sounds like the homestretch.

Horrific. Imagine having to be in the area so often.

Fatal car crash on January 3rd.

So sad.

Oh, that is so sad…

Glad to hear there is progress on the house.

Good idea, I should send a condolence note and a big thank you. One of my young workers knew the young man and spoke with the father when he visited the project. The father was grateful for the kind words. Can you imagine having to bumble through a stupid nailing inspection with that weight on your heart?

Rumor has it that the young man was a) at the bars down in Ocean Beach, b) got into some huge argument with girlfriend/girl that was passenger and c) was just slam speeding down the streets at 12:30am. Something every parent worries about - had a long discussion with my daughter about it.

Meanwhile we passed our electrical and insulation inspection this morning with flying colors. Still can’t close up the bathroom or kitchen walls because of the gas line issue. Have to wait for a plumbing company to show up on Thursday to try to find the leak.

It’s a domino effect… can’t close up kitchen walls in case there is a leak in one of the gas pipes in the walls that needs to get fixed. Can’t close up the bathrooms because we need to get gas running through lines to fire up the tankless water heater. Need hot water to run through our water pipes for a couple of days to ensure there are not any leaks in the lines. Drywallers are not going to be happy about this because they are on a fixed bid and we can’t get drywall on certain walls right now.

On another note… many people walk, ride bikes by the house every day. There are several that stop to chat. Most of them are suggesting keeping the siding around the front crisp white for a uniform look. Painting a contrasting color on the siding at front of house might ‘chop’ up the house.

What do you guys think?

White!

Nope. Not charming all white. There is way too much foundation. How about paint the foundation a dark gray or someother color to separate it from the house? White house and black roof is too stark…

I don’t like the siding on the front of the house being a different color than the side of the house. If the side is white, then I think the front should be white too.

Hard to say without being there IRL, but I tend to think the front door should provide a pop of color.

Ooooh I like the door color idea. Maybe a blue to add to the ocean location?

Will there be window trim in a contrasting color?

It is a huge wall of white on the front and side, but the deck is not in, and there isn’t any landscaping. That will soften it quite a bit.

Its really difficult at this point because I already paid to paint everything white. In hindsight I probably should have painted the body a darker color and then ‘popped’ the siding with white. There is going to be some trim around the front windows on siding but the other windows have minimal trim because they are set into the siding.

Front door color probably wont be too visible from curb because it is recessed a lot.

My vote is for all white! Like a white cloud against the gorgeous blue sky.

A strong vote from me for all white. I think it looks great, crisp, fresh, very cool.
