Just got a call from the roofing guy. First, he never even told me he was coming over today (Sunday) to finish the roof. Which means I do not have all the cash in my wallet to pay him and, of course, the bank is not open
Last week he had to stop the roofing because the last roll of the torch for back portion of roof that is flat had a big tear in it. I had to run back to roofing place on Monday to exchange for new roll. Well, it turns out that the new roll they put in the back of my truck is a completely different color!!! I couldn’t tell because the gooey side is on outside of roll and it looked the same. So, now he cannot finish the roof again!!! But, they will be able to finish all the shingle and vent work. Poor guy is going to have to come back again
Needless to say, not happy with roofing supply place right now
Doing some online shopping for bath vanities today. I have the 30" vanity for the hall bathroom, but now I need to find a 60" dual sink vanity for master bathroom, at a reasonable cost.
I sent about 20 to my agent and this is her favorite. This is the bathroom that is going to have the tan modern neutral tile. She said she prefers that we stay white for the vanity to lighten up the space. I am concerned that it has possibly a ‘Carrera marble grey/white’ top that will clash for the modern zen tile design.
The master bathroom with the neutral tile has the special Pfister Pasadena Slate color fixtures and faucets. I am searching hard to find lighting that will complement the bathroom, fixtures, tile and vanity
In this bathroom, I have wired up for two sconces to be placed outside the dual mirrors
cb, re: Post #1341: My concern is not the Carrera marble but that it’s an “artificial marble top.” I thought this house was going to be upscale. I don’t think you want artificial anything.
I personally would prefer a more neutral vanity. I don’t like the mirrored panels, and I’d be concerned that the arabesque cut outs, while very trendy now, will soon be out of style. It seems like a very specific design for a project meant to appeal to the widest possible audience. Plus it seems very different in mood or style from what you are planning for the kitchen. I don’t think the cabinets have to identical but it would be preferable, imo, to have a cohesive mood. This is just my opinion; hope that you are looking for honest opinions! You obviously know what is best for your project!
I didn’t notice the ‘artificial marble’ top. I’m going to discard that idea - you never know what you are getting
Yes, I want honest opinions otherwise this wouldn’t be any fun and we can collectively have a Peanut Gallery trying to create the best product possible in the budget
These have vessel sinks which I usually try to avoid but they look like they are easier to clean than other varieties and buyers seem to like the appearance. First one comes with modern style medicine cabinets and shelves and might go with the spa/zen neutrals. (but, who really wants to clean under that cabinet??? But, my job to have an appealing style, not necessarily perfect cleaning functionality)
Since you’re going for sleek, clean lines in the kitchen, I’d go for that look throughout the home as well, as others have posted. Its more likely to be inoffensive to the widest range of potential buyers.
Is being “inoffensive to the widest range of potential buyers” the goal?
I would think you want something that will invoke some sort of reaction. Someone needs to fall in love with the place, so they are willing to write a million dollar check.
Wow, I just noticed that the last one, Wayfair modern one, has two large drawers under the sink cabinets and drawers in the middle. I much prefer drawers over open cabinets under a sink - much more practical and lots of easy storage
Agreed; sleek and simple would be my vote. I like the finish of the faucets and handles you’ve chosen but I don’t care for the finish of those brown-toned sconces. I also would not choose any bath lighting with a colored glass, since I want clear white light.
Still traveling, but excited to see your bathroom vanities.
I vote for something sleek, contemporary and Euro style - all in keeping with your kitchen cabinets. So, of the most recent links, the floating cabinets are all good options. The bowl / vessel sinks are visually appealing, but I’ve learned (the hard way) that they are sometimes too shallow and splash more than I like. I vote for volume and out of those you posted, I vote for this:
I like it much better with the beige top - BUT it has small print ‘backordered until further notice’ meaning we won’t see it in this project’s lifetime I am concerned about the black/white primary color combo against the neutral beige tones of the tile so have to pass on the white one with the black granite top
There is another advantage to the floating vanities… they make a room look much larger and I could definitely use some of that for the small master bath!
Some day… some day… some day … I will actually buy a home that has room for a decent size master bath and walk in closet! Unfortunately the 1920, 1940, 1950 and 1960 homes just weren’t built that way and it is very difficult to carve out the space.
I like the lines of that Milan vanity. It’s clean, but nice. I don’t personally like the very contemporary look of some of these…and I’m not a fan of vessel sinks.
And it’s nice to have one cabinet…for the little trash can.
