Flip This House #5

The copper and breasts are not good colors for the space. Not with the grey. The matte silver is better, but t the screen look. For some reason, I was picturing a sort of contemporary pierced tin look. I thought that would tie the more contemporary cabinets to the older look of the house.

I think seeded glass would be a good idea.

Floors turned out just right to my eye. Seeded glass would be very nice as cabinet insets.

Autocorrect of the day!!!

Agree with thumper about not mixing metals in the kitchen.

cb, is there any reason you wouldn’t leave the upper cabinets just plain glass, as they are now? I’m a fan of “simple is best.”

The floors are fantastic. I even love the funky tile in the Jack and Jill bathroom, which I was kind of iffy about before.

I don’t think the uppers have any insets in them right now…do they?

Upper cabinets were purchased ‘glass ready’. They don’t have any inserts in the doors right now. So, at some point, I am going to have to put something in there before Thanksgiving weekend !

Well, being from the “simple is best” mentality and aesthetic, my vote is for plain glass panels.

Madly scrambling for design decisions at this point. Right now I am trying to find the perfect vanity for the powder room. I need a statement piece for the powder room, so looking at something that is traditional, matching the style of the Spanish plaster home. Powder room has the original oak floors with the dark stain, so it might be best to find a lighter vanity. Need 30" wide for the room

Here’s some ideas

I like the style of this one but it is only drilled for a single faucet hole and I inherited an expensive antique style faucet from my friend who did a remodel and accidentally ordered an extra faucet

This one is only 24" wide but might add a little pizazz to the powder room

interesting shape but probably does not go with the style of the house

Going to spend the weekend looking for more ideas

Not at all a fan of the sydney iron vanity (the 6th link). In the photo, the front of the cabinet looks like particle board.

^^Agree! On my iPhone, it looks like an old radio with a sink on the top.

IMO, something simple like the Hamilton vanity will be perfect.

My favorite of these is the Hamilton with the bit of curve (especially in Sea Glass to contrast with the floor), followed by the Hamilton.

This one makes me think of the front door and gates: https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/OVE-Decors-Cain-28-inch-Dark-Walnut-Singe-Sink-Bathroom-Vanity/10299069/product.html?refccid=OARQMMVU2G2KGESIZJ2DZPYJSY&searchidx=131 It’s also at Home Depot for the same price and Lowes for more (but I know you have coupons).

I like the Fiora the best. I don’t like any of the lighter wood colored ones at all.

I meant Fiora for #2.

I’m with @Marilyn - I like the Hamilton in Sea Glass. The curve of the Hamilton sets it apart from the others, JMHO.

I’m glad you all like the Hamilton. I am so so so tempted to get it in Sea Glass, I think it would make it stand out and add a touch of color into the tiny powder room. I could have some fun with the mirror to complement and the lighting. I don’t dare have too much fun with wall color (Ohhhh… how I wish!) because it might turn off a potential buyer

Very Busy Day

Who would’ve thought that 2 tons of compost and $1,000 dollars worth of plants would barely make a dent in the front yard. I don’t think I quite realized how big that yard is  The key plants in the yard (for those who are into these things… I’m not very into it) are Red Yucca, Kangaroo Paw, Crown of Thorns, small quart succulents planted between, lemon trees, some pittosporum bushes, and some tall yellow drought tolerant things, aloe vera, and lots and lots of sedum variety ground cover.

Just this morning I decide that I want to install drop beams on the vaulted ceilings and we need to hurry up and get them installed before the drywall goes up. Drywall starts on Monday morning so I did a mad scramble to lumber yard to get all the beams. Had to cull through a lot of stuff to find nice straight beams. But now that I am thinking about it, I think it would be a lot easier to install them after the drywall gets up. Back to the drawing board with the team Saturday morning.

We discovered another hidden vandalism issue with the dumbwaiter and that is going to cost me $300 to get a new part.

I loaded photos

I like the Hamilton vanity also. I like the fact that it is a little curvy and a little dressier, which I think is often a good thing in a powder room. Can’t stand the metal one.

I think you should go for plain glass in the cabinets.

I was also wondering if you had chosen hardware yet. If not, I think you should consider bin pulls on the bottom and knobs on the top.

cb, the front yard looks fine. People will understand that it’s freshly planted and will grow in through the years.

Since no one will be able to see that’s the house is “solar-ready,” make sure it’s mentioned in the listing.

CC ate my post. I was typing that I love that sea glass color. So SD!
