Flip This House #5

No word. At this point I am resigned to the fact that I did not get the house. My experience with situations like this is that the Sellers have made their decision and now everyone is scrambling to get paperwork all signed and Buyer totally locked in. They don’t notify the other buyers until all of that paperwork is totally done and the dust settles.

I truly think if it didn’t work out, something better will come along. I know there are great properties out there, just waiting for your loving attention. If it isn’t this one, you may have dodged a BIG headache and more.

I agree with Himom that something better will come along. I know you loved the character of this house, but there were concerns with the slope and the resale value. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you though. I know you really wanted it.

I have just been notified that I will know by the end of the day. Agent keeps repeating “You’re in a good position”. Keeping me hanging on

Arggh. But at least you’re probably still in the running!

I noticed a cute little home in original condition near your last flip went on the market today at $795K. It looks like it could be quite attractive if updated. And it’s been through the quiet home program! But no view. Can you make enough profit on something like that?

What does “you’re in a good position” mean?

It means, “we want you to stay interested in case our buyer who may be offering something juicier doesn’t come through.” It sounds like icky gamesmanship.

No, I think it sounds like, “You’re going to get the house but I can’t tell you that for sure yet because the sellers are playing games with the other buyer, but I can tell he’s not going to play ball.”

Regardless of what it means, cb will either get the house or she won’t. But there are other fish in the sea.

Yes, there are definitely a lot of great homes that could use CB’s skill and expertise. The right one will work out for her and benefit from her amazing skill set.

I Got It!!! I Got It!!!

I don’t know whether to be over the moon or scared out of my wits. I do know that the other offer was $50,000 more than my offer but that the Sellers were convinced by the agents that I could be trusted completely with closing the transaction to all of my promised terms. Also, I wrote a nice cover letter to the Sellers promising that I would keep the house intact and renovate it with careful consideration for it’s original character.

I have no idea whether they had some emotional attachment to keeping the house alive, rather than bull dozed. And, I have no idea whether they knew that the other guy would bulldoze it.

More details to come. Signing paperwork now

Not to make you all jealous, but I already knew of this house because it’s on one of my favorite walks. Great location, and I can’t wait to keep an eye on the progress! Of course all details are up to cb to share.
