Flip This House #5

Glass corners are popular around the neighborhood, but it doesn’t match the style of the house. They tend to be in contemporary style homes. Would probably require a ton of engineered stuff up in the ceiling and I don’t want to wreck the arched/curved ceiling in the dining room - it has a lot of character.

Looking at the current listings, $1283 ppsf?! Yowzers! http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-150063006-3245_Lucinda_San_Diego_CA_92106 You’d have to really really REALLY want that view when you can get this for $100K less: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-160009111-2932_Evergreen_San_Diego_CA_92106 Throwing in this one just for entertainment: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-160009279-1510_Santa_Barbara_St_San_Diego_CA_92107

re 3245 Lucinda - how do you list a house for $1.4 million and put up only 8 pictures???

Because the house is too small for more pictures?

^^lol!

man, that place on Evergreen is tempting!
The owners did a great job with the upgrades.

The second one is wonderful, and the third one is awesome!

Poor Evergreen has been on the market for awhile. It needs better staging.

Lucinda is on a very desiresable street. The agent should be fired! Horrible photos and horrible staging.

Santa Barbara is an interesting story. That was scrapped and built by an investor, speculation house.
While building there were all kinds of issues. Drove by it every day on the way to Hoarder House project. Contractor built it too high, they had to shut down work, fired contractor. In all it took 2 years to get it built and for sale. I think its priced high considering small lot, no yard.

That evergreen house has so many wonderful features…beautiful wood. Awful furniture choices. Needs staging!

I love the Santa Barbara house!

You’re right about the staging. Who on earth would put very contemporary furniture into a home with such classic details? Nothing fit.

I suspect the furniture in Evergreen is the owners’ own stuff - what with all the clothes in the closet and the United box on the shelf and the towel over the treadmill. I am especially drawn to the bedroom with the wrinkled bedskirt. Great angle 8-|

I’m not into contemporary, but love the SB house. Also love the arched doors you are considering, cb!

Santa Barbara listing = power of gorgeous photos:)

The Evergreen house is my kind of house. I agree that the furniture is completely off base, especially in the living room.

I can’t believe they are asking so much for that cheaply finished little place with the view.

Lucinda Listing… that property went into contract in 10 days back in December and just fell out of escrow 2/19. People sometimes pay crazy amounts for views.

It looks like the kitchen in the Evergreen house is very small and has a strange layout.

Where I am in life, I actually see the appeal of the Lucinda property over the Evergreen property. I’d rather downsize as an empty nester than take on another 3500 sf home. And the view is killer! If you don’t need or want a big home but have the $ to spend $1M+, that view would be something I could get used to on a daily basis. Breakfast and an evening cocktail with that view sounds pretty appealing.

Why the heck would the listing agent on the Evergreen house not tell the client to clean up/put things away for the photos and listing? Those Greek paddles and other frat boy detritus makes it look like a frat house.

“It looks like the kitchen in the Evergreen house is very small and has a strange layout.”

There are two kitchens in that house, right?

^^ You’re right. The main kitchen is lovely. The small kitchen must be in the basement. Chalk one up to short term memory issues. :">

I find it weird that the small kitchen is the first kitchen in the photo lineup, at least this is what I saw when I was browsing. I thought “oh my, this would be the deal breaker for me…” but then I saw the other kitchen.
