Flip This House - My Own Home

@notrichenough
Good catch… I did flip sink and stove. I wanted to maximize the counter space and storage cabinets. After opening up the walls, it was easiest to place the sink over on the other side for the plumbing access.

I like this one…

The fishscale is way too busy for my tastes. If you want busy like that, you might as well go back to those other busy tiles.

I think the busy fishscale will actually make the place look smaller.

Just calculated the cost. Because the fish scale is an odd size, 9x11, it will cost about $145 for my 10 sq ft vs $39 for turquoise tile

The turquoise tile was my favorite even before I saw your cost calculations.

Love all of the choices and agree with your choice of the winner!

(We just walked out of our local Floor and Decor with a pile of samples - all blue. The fish scales were considered but did not make the final cut - too dark for our purposes).

I am not a ‘pop’ of color person and in the small space like a white tile like:

For some reason I really feel we need a pop of color in there. I definitely have a lot of that handmade white subway left over that I could install for free

Agree. I like the white tiles, but white everything is too sterile. Go for the blue, CB!

I have a lot of this left over from my kitchen in a 2"x4"

Don’t know if I have 10 sq ft but I can check if you like (although it will be at least a week before I am back there). It would definitely add some color!

You can see it here if you add the photo site that cannot be named to the front: /photos/32532343@N00/31492071078/in/dateposted-public/

@notrichenough that is a very sweet offer but I bet the cost to ship the tile would be higher than worth it. You should save the tile for a fun outdoor bbq or outdoor patio at your waterfront home.

I doubt it, that stuff cost me $28/sq ft. :sunglasses:

Makes me feel better about my $12/sft tile choice!! NRE, your deck asks for a killer BBQ island…betcthta that tile will look good on it.

Unfortunately that tile is not recommended for freezing conditions. Since I am in the northeast I can’t use it outside.

That’s a bummer. But don’t you have a bath in the basement that needs remodeling? Or is that done?

What, get rid of the stylish 70’s pink tile?

That bathroom will be the absolute last thing we do, if we ever do it. It’s a monument to the house’s roots.

We did save one of those giant yellow glass/black metal lights, it’s hanging in the stairs to the basement.

MOVING IN!

Six weeks later I am about to move into the back studio. This should be very interesting. I’ve been slowly doing about 2 bags a day to try to get my master closet and the entire house cleared out, including the heart wrenching day of having to go through all of my husband’s stuff. My D had a garage sale about 4 weeks ago to get rid of all the furniture and clothes that was being thrown out and she made $850, mostly from some large pieces of furniture.

Last night I cleaned the studio walls, shelves and floor thoroughly and hung some curtains. The curtains do not cover the whole sliding door/window configuration so I am going to have to buy more and put 4 panels up.

The biggest mistake I have made so far i s that we finally pulled my new induction cooktop out of the box and looked at the electric wires sticking out of it. They didn’t look normal, there was no plug. Searched the instructions and I have accidentally purchased a cooktop that requires 220v and I didn’t run a 220v outlet into the kitchen. I consciously made that decision because we didn’t have enough juice in our new sub panel to support a big 220 line. That is why we ran a gas line all the way to the back for the washer/dryer. Ooops… I remember being very careful to make sure I bought a 120v cooktop (it is only 2 burners). So, went back onto Amazon and, of course, it is past my time period to return it. Found the 220v requirement embedded in some fine print, so my mistake. Called the manufacturer and asked if I could exchange for a 120v model. They don’t make one. So, I politely asked if I could return it. Quickly got online and ordered a 120v version and it is on it’s way. So, no cooking for me for awhile

So, last night I cleaned the bathroom thoroughly and moved all of my bathroom stuff to the back room. I haven’t been able to take a shower for 3 days because I am trying very hard to keep the master bath shower dry because we need to demo it and I know for a fact that it is leaking under the house. Wanted to try to dry everything out for the guys. But, I haven’t cleared out my closet yet. So, guess what! This morning I have to go into back and take a shower and then I realized I have no clothes. Oops… the rest is TMI

We found a solution for the issue that the shower doors are not long enough to cover the 49" length of the shower. I had purchased the set that is supposed to cover 48". Well, that was a lie! There was a 2 1/2" gap where water would just spew out all over. So, I bought a tall clear acrylic panel and we cut a length of it, with factory edge out and glued it into the side of the shower against the metal edge. It’s perfect!!! You cannot even see it and it does the trick  And we are going to put in two stainless steel door stop things (they are on their way) to stop the door 2 1/2" short so there are no gaps

I have a solid good murphy bed mechanism in my office right now for overflow guests. I hardly use it so I have decided that it is going to be the bed for the studio apartment. I built two large closets for each side of it and it will fold up against the wall between the closets. Renters will probably have it down all the time, but it gives them the ability to fold it up if they want to have guests

I loaded some photos

Brilliant solution to the shower door length! Love it. The studio is coming along nicely, and I absolutely love the vanity! Did the top come with it? Love it. I bookmarked the vanity for our future bath remodel.

Yes, the top and sink were included. It came as one piece, so really heavy to try to carry around and install. I will take some pictures with the drawers opened up so you can all see the plumbing cut outs. The only issue I have discovered is that the drawers are not very deep so no place to store tall things like my giant thing of body lotion or mouth wash

It looks terrific! Did you decide to use the turquoise tile in the kitchen? No pics of that up…

I love the view. Since you are the only one there…I’d be tempered to not get other panels and enjoy that beautiful view.
