cb, tell us again why you accepted this project.
I hope you get a nice vacation after this tough project!
There are new window coverings. I purchased nice solar shades for upstairs with the view and she ordered expensive blackout roller shades for the bedrooms. I tried to talk her into nice top down shades that would’ve provided natural light across top with privacy but she wanted blackout
I’m trying to remember why I accepted project from hell?
Just carrying everything up into the home was a nightmare. I need to take some pics of stairs up from street
Could someone PM to me the picture link?
Me, too! I need pics of this project.
coralbrook- it’s time for you to stop taking on projects that give you nothing but grief!
surely you can find consulting work from your CC friends on projects, all over the country, who need your talent and great eye, and don’t require you to deal with penny a*******!
I’d love a pm of the link as well. You are a saint, @coralbrook. You didn’t deserve such an unappreciative and unhinged client.
I tried sending the link via pm but my copy/paste apparently inserted *’s. Edit - sent second pm advising * replacement.
I sent a link.
I think we could ask see this was going to be the client from heck from the very beginning.
As long as cb got paid though…
I hope CB got compensation for all of the changes. Most contractor charge a premium for changes to the original contract…because if not…clients really just take advantage.
Thanks for the link, y’all! I’ve got it now.
@coralbrook I think this place looks fabulous! And I think the owner is an ungrateful, entitled…well…you know what i want to write!
CB is definitely a saint. I would never have the patience to work with someone like this client!
I would love to have the link as well. I thought I had it in my personal bookmarks, but the link is broken. Thanks.
Ohhh boy… owner moved in on Thursday. Starting 8am Friday morning I am receiving texts and phone calls asking about everything. At 11 pm last night she’s calling me because the washer is not working. Who is starting a load of laundry at 11pm??? Turned out she had blown out a GFI outlet in the circuit. I had to teach her how to reset the outlet.
This morning she called complaining because she ran out of hot water in the shower. I absolutely panicked because I thought something was wrong with the wiring or plumbing. I contacted everyone and tried to line them up for troubleshooting and emergency repair. I spent a long time trying to diagnose the problem to find out that she ran out of water after a 30 minute shower. What the hey?.. she only has a 30 gal electric water heater. It just plain ran out of hot water
She is livid and wants to know what I’m going to do about it and why can’t she have a big tankless? OMG!! We’ve been over this for weeks months ago when I had to explain she did not have enough amps in her panel for a tankless. She wants to start up all over again trying to find a way to get a tankless. I just forwarded her the email with all the calculations and explanation from January.
She knows we are heading into a drought now? 3 minute showers are the norm, not 10 X that.
Time and materials INCLUDES time on the PHONE listening to her not able to do the laundry… and triple time for after 5PM.
jeezlouise
Sometimes, service provides have to fire customers. I have fired some real pieces of works and have no regrets. The PITA lady needs to take a looong… hike. Pfft.
cb- have you been paid yet by this wackjob? if not I would file a construction lean against her condo in order to force her to pay you.
Then after she pays you, I would cut off all contact with her.
Enough is enough.
If anyone was with firing, this ungrateful person would be among the top of the list! What a nasty, rude person!
As much as our water conservation efforts and bills have increased in SD County, and she’s taking 30 minute hot showers! What’s she washing off???
She needs to become an adult and learn to problem-solve.
I agree with everyone ablove. You’re going to have to cut off contact with her. She will wind up badmouthing you no matter what you do. She is not one of your pleasant, happy clients for whom you would fix a problem two years from now. You’re going to have to give her a deadline of for how long she can bring up problems and then just cut her off.
