1800 meal points = $1800, so yeah, basically $2100 = 2100 meal points. sucks for people like me who don’t eat a lot in the dining halls, which is part of the reason why i’m moving off campus for next year :].

http://hds.ucsd.edu/diningplan/index.html simply put, you have 1800 meal points which you can use to buy food/drinks/items (at earl’s place and in some vending machines around campus) at any of the dining halls. everything thing you buy/will eat has a point value which is deducted from your 1800 total every time you check out at the cashier counter. so even if you wanted to refill your soda/milk/drink, you’d have to go back to the cashier and pay with more points (water is free thou). i think the best way for freshmen to understand the meal points deal is to think of your ID Campus Card as a debit credit card with $1800 on it which you can spend on food at the dining halls. everything at the dining hall will have a sticker or sign that states for example $0.95, $3.50, etc. and you will not get back any money if you do not end up using all 1800 points at the end of the year :/.
