Re superiority of CCCs I’m not knocking any of these at all – SBCC, SMC, deanza, foothill, diablo valley are all considered the very top ones. You can’t go wrong with any of them. I just threw my two cents into the mix when there started to be a competition. And SMC is really focused on UCLA.

Some CCs have better coverage of course work for certain majors at some UCs and CSUs (usually nearby ones). For example, for UCB EECS or L&S CS, a combination of Laney and Diablo Valley would provide the best coverage of lower division CS courses, according to http://www.assist.org .
