For all you E-Readers out there!

Where did you buy the Kindle?
Best Buy does not carry the Kindle.

I heard that you can order it only from Amazon…is that right?
How long was the wait?

Ordered 2 Kindles for graduation gifts. Placed the order with Amazon on a Tuesday and they were on my doorstep by Friday. This was via regular shipping too.

Since this thread’s been bumped, I’ll just update with our recent Kindle experience. We learned how to send pdf’s to the amazon account and then transfer them to the Kindle. It was a fantastic help on a recent trip: my H would email to say he needed a chapter out of a certain book, I would scan it to make a pdf, and send it to him halfway around the world, and he could use it that day. Very cool!

And yes, only Amazon sells the Kindle.

Final decision: "And now I am trying to decide between a Kindle DX and a Kindle 2 "

Anyone got the Kindle DX… I will order the gift soon…so please share your experience!

OP (or any other e-readers out there),

I just made a post on the other thread about the nook. May I ask why it is not being considered. I do realize that it is still very new and not many have heard about it but I am still curious as to why the Kindle is considered superior.

I am quite happy with my Nook. I love the fact that I can download library books on it. Customer service has been great so far.

I am happy with my Kindle 2 but it is annoying that it can’t be used to download library books. I like having it in my purse. I always have something to read with me now. Amazon lets you get the first few chapters of most new books for free - you click on your screen and they appear on your Kindle. But then when you finish those free chapters, it is very very very easy to buy the books.
