FOR Musical Theatre Major ALUMNI or CURRENT STUDENTS.... please read//help me!! :D

When I discovered CC during the college search for my D, I read every bit of information here including the subforums as SoozieVT suggests. It took a while but was VERY valuable. Some info I printed and filed for my D to review. Reading about the individual schools really helped get a feel for which MIGHT suit her. (I say might because it is only initial research!) I did this initial screening because of her overloaded schedule with school/rehearsals, etc., and kept her updated with what I found while driving her around to activities.

With this information and the Big List I then went to the websites of schools and printed important info. Sometimes she would ask me to look into a school and sometimes I would recommend one to her. Once again, she would review these files while in the car.

We then met with a friend in the business and discussed which schools my D was most interested in. On advice gathered from this meeting she then added/dropped schools. Try talking to people you know who are actors/directors/involved with local theater. Also, many people here at CC have very good advice.

The MOST important thing to remember is- what is a great school for one person might not be a great school for you. Take into consideration what type of actor/actress you are and don’t look at a school just because you have heard of it/it is one of the “top” schools/your friends are applying there/your friends went there/all the actors on broadway went there.

This research method might not work for you, but I hope that it gives you a place to start. Good Luck!
