For osteoporosis, which type of specialist would you see?

Last fall I switched Drs, to an internal med who specializes in osteoporosis, and finally got another bone density, after my previous Dr. declining to do so. Osteopenic here, as years ago, but will get my numbers and compare them to your recommendations, Very Happy. I try to lift weights over my head, and think of you when I do! A little off my game right now, unfortunately.

Though I haven’t had a full appointment since I received my numbers, she also checked a vitamin D level, and had me up the dosage, again.

EK, that sun angle in northern places just is not sufficient to maintain Vit. D levels, and thus, bone mass over a long lifetime. I have seen a graph of ever declining waves of bone mineral densities that are typical in northern latitudes. Some bone is built back up in warmer months, but not enough to return to loss over the previous season.

I just looked up Forteo, and was surprised to see that it is not a biphosphenate.
