In 2007 I was taking Boniva and I had a tibial plateau fracture from a skiing fall. It was a tiny fracture, but I had to be non-weight bearing on crutches in a unloader brace for 6 weeks. It turns out that the Boniva actually PREVENTS the healing of any fractures. I wound up having surgery.
