This is so helpful and I’ve just added Kaminskys to the list. We are staying at the FQI so I’m really glad to hear the terrific reviews.
Looking forward to visiting Charleston and CofC next month. I’m burning points at the Hampton. Is the entire area safe to walk at night? Is Uber the best way to get around (as I assume that parking is tough)?
We are signed up for a campus tour and are hoping to meet with the coach. Question: I see that Honors College does info sessions but don’t see that they are offered in June. Does anyone know whether they are? or how we can meet with a rep from the Honors College?
Thanks for the suggestions on the Charleston and Slave Museums. Don’t think my D has ever see slave quarters so that will be good for her.
BTW: also looking forward to seeing the sexiest woman on the planet (Rhiannon Giddens) at Spoleto! Woo-Hoo!!
@SoFloDad, the Slave Mart Museum does not have slave quarters for attendees to see. You can tour some at Middleton Place or at Magnolia Plantation if you do their From Slavery to Freedom tour.
You can see slave quarters if you tour the Aiken-Rhett House, which is very close to CoC.
@SoFloDad Contact the Honors College to set up an appointment . They are usually very accommodating . My son is a William Aiken Fellow at the Honors College. Can’t say enough good things about the program. Feel free to PM if you have any questions .
We stayed in a B&B when we went and it was totally charming, just like all the city. I really loved Charleston and would love to go back. Our best meal was at Magnolia’s.
