Foreign Language Question

We are OOS, so I have questions about the Sunys in general, as well as Suny New Paltz and Cortland. If a student does not pass a certain level of a foreign language competence, and chooses a new foreign language in college, how many semesters are required for a non-foreign language major?

I think the best thing to do would be to go to each school’s website and check the general education requirements. The different schools may have different requirements.

I don’t have the answer to your question, but New Paltz has a number of places in place to get questions answered. One is their facebook group
[SUNY New Paltz | Facebook](Redirecting...)
The other is their AIM address where you can instant message them during the weekdays…NewPaltzinfo.
Good luck.

Thank you.

D took span 101, 102 in summer school, 3 credits each. 6 credit hours will fulfill requirement at NP. She will need to pass a language test to study abroad.

Thanks Vahevala. I have some questions, so I just sent a PM to you.

[SUNY New Paltz: Academic Advising - Advising Handbook - College-Wide Degree Requirements](http://www.newpaltz.edu/advising/course_placement.html)

If starting a new foreign language, 2 semesters are needed to fulfill the general ed requirement.

nysmile, thank you.
