Former White House Press Secretary Blasts Bush

They have absolutely total, veto-proof subpoena power to investigate all the misdeeds and betrayals that they promised to investigate.

What are they covering up? Which Democrats are implicated in the Abramoff scandal?

So fear of vetoes and fillibusters is the reason the dems have not gotten anything done?

That goes back to earlier posts of the dems being moral cowards!

Wow if you are willing to make excuses for not demanding more from our elected reps…good on you, but I do not accept excuses from my husband or my kids. You said you would do it, I expect you to do it, or at least prove to me that you gave it your all. I do not see that from the Congress

However I have seen the Hill investigate whether or not baseball players took steroids! Gee that really effected me, my family and friends lives so much that we will be eternally grateful for spending countless hours and tax dollars on that!

So this is from ABC.com…what a shock he is kicking off his media blitz on NBC

Has anyone read the book? Perhaps do not be so quick to criticize until you read what he actually writes. I have not read it. I believe it will not be released until later this week. But what I have gleened from reports is that he was not aware of the lies as he was passing them along to the press. The most important point is that the persons in power in the white house (certainly not the press secretary) knew they were fabricating evidence to stoke to war fires. The poor mouth piece was just doing his job.
As for the discussion on the democrats and legislative powers, review your civics lessons on how Congress works and you will understand the impotence of the current Congress.

I find it hilarious all you can see is that McClellan betrayed the White House. The story you quoted also indicates that the White House has developed a practice of trashing people who disclose what really has been going on there. And that what is going on there is really actually pretty scarily horrible.

With the exception of contempt of Congress, they don’t indict anyone. All they have to do is what they promised to do.

But, then, they are Democrats, so what do you expect? (And yes, I am planning to vote for one.)

That wasn’t my point at all…my point was ABC slammed him an d so he is going with NBC!

I could not careless about White House and their practice of trashing people. I do find it interesting that a man who made his living trashing other people now has to answer to what he alleged other people of doing

A quote from McClellan about Richard Clark:

Sounds very similiar to where he is standing right now. So if he stated this to the world, why should we give him any credence. As I said I couldn’t care left, right or indifferent about what he says. I do feel that he is in to make a dime, and dirt sells!

^^^^

The truth sells too, in this case.

Again, you are focusing on the messenger and avoiding the message. It’s rather hilarious.

If the messenger writes the message than you need to focus on the messanger.

when all is said and done, is this book telling you something you didn’t already know?

The responses from the White House are hysterical, that McClellan betrayed their trust, as if they did not betray the trust of the entire nation, if not the world.

This is beyond ridiculous, a circle of liars pointing fingers at each other, but I suppose the silver lining is that it presents another reason why Hillary should stay in the race until the bitter end, maybe McClellan knows something about Obama.

^^^

And when the message is verifiable truth voiced by corroborators, you do all you can do which is to fall into a smear campaign suggesting that what is worse than lying to the American people on behalf of a lying Administration is to turn coat and tell the truth after the fact. The fact is, though, people for the most part know what McClellan is saying is just now common knowledge – except among those that want to hide or run from the truth.

[Exposing Washington’s spinning permanent campaign - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/bush_world_of_spin)

Bedhead,

Sorry I have ethics! If I saw something I disagreed with I wouldn’t have stayed for more than 6 yrs (he was on the campaign trail for the 00 election, let’s assume he was on the trail with Bush by April 00). I would have left as soon as I saw that they wanted me to lie for them. Seeing as he was hired by Karen Hughes, and was Ari Fleischer’s deputy…I am pretty sure he saw the dirt, but stayed to advance his career.

Please notice I am quoting myself and my beliefs, so you can stop saying I am drinking Kool-Aid

IF he did indeed see the dirt than how does he wipe the grime off of himself for touting the Bush line? Very much like MacBeth

Well, given what you’ve said, you think he saw the fact of the Administration lying and decided to play the loyal soldier anyway – until such time as he could write a lucrative tell-all.

I don’t think many people who have ever seen how many such books as this will be that surprised by this lack of ethics. Some would suggest that living the lie t the grave would have demonstrated the best and strongest ethic of loyalty.

What I find interesting is that you don’t really seem to care about the fact that what McClellan saw – and ignored/lied in order to defend – was an Administration engaged in propoganda for the purpose of selling a war we didn’t need to fight and that you haven’t really been acknowledging that, but have just been drilling down on his lack of ethics. I don’t find his lack of ethics that surprising given his profession; I am just ever-bewildered that we are in deep in to-cost-2 trillion dollar war where nearly 4,300+ Americans have been killed – and people who were right in the action are confirming what many of us already know – we were betrayed by our President in the worst possible way.

Enough.

What are our soldiers to do? Duty and Honor, when the CINC and his advisors have none?

Since I can take from your quote you have never hit my name to see my other posts…let me clue you in why I don’t feel the way you have stated.

For the last 20 yrs Bullet has been defending your right to say these statement, throughout the entire time we as a fmily have never expressed any opinions about military direction! If you don’t get it, my husband has been serving the nation and putting his family 2nd for you and your family. He has missed birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and school plays to be told that this is the wrong war! There is no right war. I have cried myself to sleep, hidden the fact to my children that he was in Iraq. I live with the fact that he might die tomorrow, and you think his death would be “useless”, but you will not be holding our children as they cry, instead, you will be someone they overhear at Wal-Mart stating this war is wrong! Next time you decide to say that someone died b/c of Bush’s propaganda and that we are trillions in debt, please realize that a child of a deployed parent is reading it. Because to them the money doesn’t matter, what matters is that you stop reminding us how many have died…we are acutely aware of it. Also don’t tell us you support the troops, but this is a war we didn’t need to be in, it doesn’t the soothe pain for a wife sleeping by herself looking at the wedding ring he had to leave behind. It doesn’t help the child missing their parent and wondering why they had to go!

BTW I have been there and seen family members be handed a flag for a grateful nation. I will not ever agree that they died in vain

“What are our soldiers to do? Duty and Honor, when the CINC and his advisors have none?”

The sad - the outrageous! part is that, in Iraq, not a single soldier - not one - has fought, killed, been injured, or died to defend our country or our freedoms. The war having been sold to the Democrats in January/February 1998 by Clinton/Tenet, it was no wonder that when asked whether he could sell it again in 2002, Tenet told Bush it was a "slam-dunk.

I think the wives and mothers, sons and daughters of all our servicemen should be using our freedoms by marching on the White House.

Mini you are correct this war was never about defending our freedom, it was and is about protecting those who did not have the ability to speak out against tyrants, such as Saddam who had used people as shield. A man who diverted food for oil to his own pockets. A man who killed his childrens spouses. His sons were vile and eventually would have ruled Iraq. Uday was known for his tyrannical rule

The soldiers died for an Iraqi to have the freedoms we have. The soldier in Afghanistan died so your daughter would have the chance to show the world her beautiful eyes and go to college. They died for their citizens to have the right to be speak their minds without fear or consequence.

IMO what they are doing is very noble.

AS a spouse I am proud of my husband, I am proud that women have a better chance. I am glad that Uday is dead, a man who was known to rape women. I believe that in 5 yrs the Iraqis will have a true democracy instead of everyone voting for the President out of fear. I doubt you will find many spouses or children walking down Pennsylvania Ave. If you even look at Cindy Sheehan, her family has disowned her. When we walk down the aisle, we know that there will be a huge price to pay, but if you ever meet an AD member and how proud they are to serve, you would never think of protesting when their last words to you b4 they kiss you goodby is it’ll be okay, and I know I am doing the right thing

I also want people to realize that the military has never left since 91, look up Operation Northern/Southern Watch… hate to break it to you but it hasn’t been 5 yrs, it has been 17

No one fought to “free” Iraq from Saddam Hussein. The million people, half of them children, killed by Clinton, were not “sacrificed” for a the U.S. noble cause. Rumsfeld didn’t go to Iraq to shake hands with Saddam Hussein to use chemical weapons against Iran so that people could live free. The 4.4 million refugees displayed from their homes, the million widows, those ethnically cleansed from their ancestral homes in Baghdad, are not busy singing our praises for “freeing” them from the clutches of Saddam Hussein. Ayatollah Sistani, the moderate Shiite cleric, says it is a sin and absolutely forbidden to give food, or even a glass of water, to the aggressive, hostile occupiers - and it was his family that was tortured and killed by the U.S.-backed Saddam Hussein in the 1980s.

There is NOTHING noble about this enteprise. Not a single soldier in Iraq has fought, killed, or died for your freedoms, or for mine. Not one. Not a single soldier in Iraq has fought for Iraqi democracy, or for American democracy. And that is outrageous.

And it hurts.

“The soldiers died for an Iraqi to have the freedoms we have.”

Oh my, this is very SAD. You have been duped.

When did we go to war to save the Iraqi citizens? This was not the reason presented to the UN and America. Why did we bombed and killed 655,000 plus Iraqis?

Unfortunately, our war dead died in vain due to Bush’s Big Lie. It was simply a war of choice.

Our soldiers fight and die for Duty and Honor and for the Constitution. What we think why they fight is another aspect. Much like kids who go to school/college see education in one aspect, we as parents see their education in another light.

Soldiers follow orders and trust in their command to lead for ‘Duty and Honor’. Command gives orders and trust in soldiers to carry out the command for ‘Duty and Honor’. But what happens if the line between the soldiers and leaders fail?
