I don’t mean to be difficult, but I’m not sure that the job offers you get “prove” anything. It’s this highly beneficial cycle of the best and brightest getting into McCombs and then getting the benefits of being accepted into the school by getting an inflated GPA. That in turn looks good to the companies that hire you.

It’s not a bad thing, per se, but it is probably the best example of a symbiotic parasitic relationship in what doing well in HS to get into a good college can do for you.

I guess I’m just bitter about the small town folk who get into McCombs more easily than say a student from ultra-competitive Plano Senior High. Though, I’ve heard a few stories about the podunk kids who wash out. Muahahahaha…but still, they are taking up valuable spots.

The older formula says my Engineering GPA will be ~3.40, while the newer one says my Engineering GPA will be ~3.51

@iambored, is that how much you studied Freshman year? I’m a little scared. How is freshman year as a ChemE? What were your high school stats going into college?

I was top 2% of my class, 2200 on my SAT, 34 on ACT, took over 6-8 AP classes and walked in with around 23 hours of credit from AP. Yes that is how much I studied freshman year and that calculator is WAY off

Does anyone know what the average GPA for Plan II students are after Freshman year? How is the courseload compared to engineering or even business? Is it difficult to maintain a good GPA?
