FortuneTeller Java program for your college and future- just for fun

Instead of generating two independent scores, why dont you use a Math.random but bump the range up a bit to get a little higher score range. Then to get the second score have it add another Math.random to the first with a (-100,100) range (or something similar). That way the scores would make a little more sense and be, at most, 100 points apart.

Cute… you edited the Fortune Teller program from the Litvin’s Java Methods book, hehe.

man my fortune didnt include where i would work!!

unluckycharms, I did not edit that program. I don’t have that Java book. Thanks for the lame accusation though. You haven’t even seen the code for my program. I’m not posting it either because I’m going to take the advice of one guy who posted on one of my threads to send it into a college. Don’t want your opinion on that either.

Glad you like it dude. I started the program before I knew much about object oriented stuff and due to the number of colleges and degrees and stuff it ended up 597 lines. The way I see it even if it had been more object oriented it would still be close to 500 lines. It’s just a complicated program.

Okay, by the way does anyone know how you copy text from a .exe file. When you execute the Java file it opens a .exe window with the text but you can’t highlight unless you go to the tool bar and select “Mark.” Even then you cannot copy the text. This would be a lot easier if I didn’t have to type out every single fortune ya know.

Awesome. Columbia was actually my second choice, haha

What was your first?

Cornell, of course

Oh, yes, we’re on the Cornell forum. I forgot that little detail.

I’ve decided to do a test on the program, I ran it for 100 users and I’m going to see what the best I get is.

The best I’ve said on here was U Penn, PhD, 1510 SAT I think.
