Found a Large Envelope in the Mail Today...

“Forgot to mention, she had an HEOP interview for NYU not Cornell. But I’m sure it works the same way.”

Actually this isn’t true. State Programs Office are different in each school. Some do interviews others ask for essays and some flat out don’t care. Cornell doesn’t ask for essays or an interview, but it does ask for an excessive amount of financial information that schools like NYU don’t. NYU didn’t ask for my previous years, but Cornell asked for three years of income taxes and W-2’s.

All Cornell H/EOP prospective students find out there admissions decision by March 31st at 5:00 p.m. just like everyone else.

I got in too. College of engineering.

Possible ( Probable) hook - White Girl for engineering.

oh, you are from Stuyvesant, my high school’s ‘enemy’ in every competition. haven’t got one, sigh. What kind of engineering are you majoring?

To nowandlater: you didn’t have to add that comment after Stuyvesant.

Cornell may have given the contact information for the Multicultural place because any information from admissions might have made it official, thus violating the Ivy League policy. Not sure if this is true, but its possible.

I agree about the terminology of “Likely Letter.”

Congratulations everyone! I got the same letter, and I laughed at the diversity thing. I wonder if I would’ve gotten in if I wasn’t Hispanic… but oh well. I’ll take what I can get, gladly.

arrghhh i have no letter!! i must wait till march 31st. ■■■

I wondered the same thing, and I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t. I wish that wasn’t true. But whatever, I’ll gladly accept the offer.

If you weren’t hispanic then the circumstances and environment that you would’ve grown up in would be almost impossible to predict. Changing your ethnicity and heritage would change everything down your family line in history including any decisions that were made regarding race and where people moved to and lived. So in a way, your ethnicity contributed to what opportunities would be available to you, not just in college but where you might’ve grown up, what schools you went to prior to college, etc.

^ Very nicely said. :)
