“we were interlopers trying to keep a corupt political system in place because it served our interests.”

One could say the same thing for Korea. Both countries were being invaded by their WWII-created other half. The US came to the assistance of the country that best served its own interests.

“Why is it always about BC with you?”

Its not BC per se, its just that it is so easy to point out the liberal hypocrisy when they have hissyfits over things that GWB does but for BC, having done similar things, they wet their pants over the possibility of hearing their god give a speech. It’s just fun to point out the double standard that is apparent to everyone but those severely afflicted with BDS.

but again, you miss the point. I’m not this liberal you paint me to be. We’re fighting a war of choice with one hand tied behind our back. We’re told everyday how critical this all is, yet what critical steps have we actually taken to overwhelm the ememy? Remember we’re the country that wins with more than the other guy (shermans vs. panzers), and we’re the guys that lose when we micro fight.

I still don’t get where you see that as liberal pov. I see it as put up or shut up. Don’t sit on TV and tell me how America is in grave danger and really do nothing about it. And yes, they’ve really done nothing about it for five years. All GW figured out was if he could keep the threat alive, he’d be in office. Too bad so many young men have to be killed or maimed while he talks tough to the world to keep power. He’s just “paths to glory” general bush. thinking nothing of his men other than they should be willing to die for him. Sorry, I think more along the lines of another george and have the other poor b die for his country. Different leaders. One could, the other can’t.

I’m enjoying McCain talking tough these days…“I’ll follow Bin Laden to the gates of hell.” Huh? Get real. Bush didn’t even follow him to his home - the terrain was too rough!

This “war” has nothing to do with terrorism - unless you take into account all the new terrorists it’s spawned and all the new places it’s created for them to thrive.

I’m not even sure I’m in favor of a total pull out. When I hear people I respect, like Michael Ware, warn of the very dire consequences of pulling out - well, it is very sobering. What a mess. I think next election we’d better try electing someone smart, not “one of us.”
