@HImom, I assume it could affect my premium if we put in a claim for actual fraud, but I don’t know for sure.
The identity theft coverage costs us $8.00/month for both my H & I. well worth it, imo.

@oregon101 - Anthem says there is “no evidence” that medical records were compromised. Only you can decide whether you believe anything they say, and whether you think “no evidence” means “didn’t happen.”
I notice they are saying that the free credit monitoring will be retroactive to the date of exposure. Can someone explain how this works? I put protection in place today going back to, say January 15, and this will somehow prevent my credit from being stolen on January 16?
LasMa–wondering more if providers information has been involved. When a provider applies to be on a panel all kinds of information is required.
Medical ID numbers were included in the stolen data, which would lead back to a provider, I presume. But as far as I’ve hard, nothing from the providers themselves. Just subscribers.
LasMa, thanks.
Well, just tried to place a fraud alert but was given a message that the sytem wasn’t available. Maybe others had the same idea.
Well, tried with all 3 credit bureaus and THINK I may have succeeded with only TransUnion. Will have to try again with the other two. Can’t get it done online or by phone with them. May try online and by phone again tomorrow. Am just starting with fraud alert.
^ When I did it with Trans Union with my insurance agent yesterday (he dialed TU and stayed on the phone while I entered what was prompted) we ignored message by Trans Union that if it was Anthem related to use their website.
Also, I think you only need to do it with one credit bureau - they are supposed to alert the other two.
I got a fraud alert with Equifax, and they said they would notify the other credit bureaus, but I haven’t heard from them yet that it’s been done. It’s been 4 days.
^ I don’t think they will notify you.
For an alert, you only need to contact one. For a freeze, you need to contact all three. I was told by Transunion that I’d get something in the mail in a week to 10 days. The other two I was able to do online and print off the confirmation and PIN.
I’m a former employee of one of the BC companies. I received two calls within the last week. I don’t know if it’s related to the breach but I just put a fraud alert on my account. The caller had the first 5 digits of my SS # and my home address. I will sign up for the credit monitoring service as soon as possible.
Well this isn’t new. I had to have my credit monitored from the Target breach last year and now two more years for this breach. I may just freeze my credit instead of fraud alert.
I just signed up for the credit monitoring and identity theft protection offered by Anthem. I hope I don’t have to use it.
