Freshman at GW

I stil cannot decide between GW and U Del. Honors. I am not very politial and worry that socially I will not be able to fit in. Which is a better school socially and academically ( price is nt an issue )

Meadsport- Several of us have responded to this SAME question of yours in different ways on different occasions. Only you can determine which school is best for you. You should visit, speak with professors from the majors you may be interested in pursuing , talk with current students at U of D and GW and make a decision based on factors that are most important to you. It seems to me that you keep asking which school is better, which school has a better reputation, etc …instead of focusing on which school feels “right” to you.
You may just have to follow your gut if all other factors are equal.

Sorry, MsBC…I am just totally confused at this point…And having a tough time deciding as there are great things about both schools.

Meadesport- No need to be sorry, I know how hard it is to make a decision but sometimes you just have to follow your gut. U of Del. may have different things to offer then GW and visa versa. So if you cannot eliminate one based on cost, academics, etc. then make a pros and cons list and go with the school that has the most pros for you. As far as the social aspect, both are large schools so I’m sure there is a place for everyone.

Thanks MsBC…

Multitasker:

It’s really up to you. Most UW classes can be quite intensive (though some are a complete joke), so if you feel that you are ready to take on a rigorous courseload and meet deadlines your first semester, then I would say go for it.
I peronsally took it first semester.

I’ll apologize in advance, as whenver I get to this site I’m usually dreary eyed and dead tired, so I make numerous spelling mistakes, syntax errors, etc.

Thank you, GWilde!
Could you elaborate in the “less intensive” UWs? Please PM me?
tnx

Also, are there any new majors not listed in the older 2007 catalog?
tnx

Sorry, my PM box if full and I am a bit of a hoarder, so I haven’t got around to emptying it. I can’t specifically point each one out, as they tend to change, and because I’m not familiar with them all. But my friend’s for instance only meets twice a week (even though they are supposed to meet three times), and he has only had to write one paper. Some of the professors are terrific, others however are sometimes a little apathetic. That’s why I would seriously recommend using ratemyprofessors before you select a class. Professors often make or break a course at GW.

I’m not quite sure about the majors. Is there anything in particular that you had in mind?

I am a new member, and just recently confirmed my decision to go to GW rather than U of Rochester for various reasons. I am going to be pre-med at GW so I just have a few questions. How challenging is being a premed at GW? Coming in as a freshman, is there a dorm that most premeds choose to live in? If not, will Thurston be too difficult to live in and take courses seriously? Overall, I am just extremely nervous to start college…

why has everyone stopped posting

Pre-Med at GWU is pretty swell from what I hear…although you may want to sk some of the actual pre-med folk for a more reliable answer.

Our Med school program is not too shabby, but our pre-med however is a little lacking. GW isn’t exactly known for it’s sciences. There are some decent lecturers, but unfortunately even intro professors expect you to have a graduate knowledge. I took Bio for a few months (before subsequently dropping it) with no prior Biology background, and the material the professor expected us to know already coming into the class was just absrud. But my friend is premed and he is really enjoying himself.

****its sciences
