Here’s a breakdown of the days…

Day One
You get to school, check in at Rieber Plaza where the shuttle drops you off, get your room key and drop your stuff off there. You may or may not see your roommates; they’re assigned by alphabet last name. Then you go to Covel to meet with your group; these are assigned by major. You get to know each other a little then you head down to Ackerman Union for presentations then lunch with your group. Presentations take up most of the day but you’ll have a little free time in the afternoon to hang out then it’s back to presentations. In the evening, you’ll have a little show put together by the advisors then they have games for you to play if you want. You don’t have to play, you can go home and sleep or go out to Westwood.

Day Two
Breakfast. Then You get together with your group in your advisor’s (they’re called NSA’s) room. They will go over some info on courses and how to plan your classes and whatnot. They’ll make appointments to see each of you individually to figure out classes in the afternoon. You can get lunch afterwards then you have free time until your meeting with your NSA. You can explore the campus / Westwood but I suggest spending some time looking at classes for your major and whatnot to get a feel of what kind of classes you can take. Generally, your NSA will advise that you take one class for your major and two GE’s. If your life sciences like me, you’ll probably end up taking Chem 14A, a math class or a class for your major, and a GE. After that, you have free time until your evening appointment with your NSA (this is just to chat - not academics). Most NSAs will ask that you plan your course schedule during this time so that your schedule is ready to be turned in that evening when you meet them. Between your afternoon and evening appointment you get dinner at some point. Then, at night, they have Carpe Noctum which is basically a scavenger hunt done in groups of ten. Winner gets a free UCLA sweater. Be sure someone has a smartphone they’re willing to use data on since you won’t always have school wifi as you run around the campus.

Day Three
You wake up bright and early (most likely you probably haven’t even slept haha) and head to your NSA to sign up for class. Each group is only allowed two laptops to sign up classes on so you’ll draw numbers to see who goes first. It’ll be stressful but usually everyone gets the classes they want, or something pretty similar. If you are life sciences, SIGN UP FOR CHEM FIRST. That’s the class everyone wants and it closes up pretty quick (no worries, my friend went 2nd to last and she still got her chem session). Then you have breakfast before meeting up with your group again to head down to Ackerman. Presentations, lunch, then a school campus tour with your NSA and another group. Then you head back to the dorms to say goodbye and leave at around 6 PM.

*NOTE
- If you arrive a little late, it’s ok. Don’t stress out.
- You can leave early if you need to on the 3rd day. Just tell the NSA. Your parents can pick you up at Lot 3 or Rieber Plaza.
- You may want to bring an extra blanket because it’s chilly and a pillow if you have a hard time sleeping. Personally, I was so tired I didn’t care that it was cold or the pillow was hard and I could feel the springs of the mattress. But, you know, you might need them.

Have fun! Don’t stress too much.
