Hm, if I remember correctly the nearest neighborhood is about a 10 minute walk away…or more. I vaguely remember a neighborhood close to UCM. If parking in front of some strangers house and walking 15 minutes to school is the only way I’m going to have a car during my stay then so be it.

There’s either going to be a remote parking lot set up with shuttle service to the school provided by UCM or we’ll petition for one.

How big is the incoming freshman class? 1000 students roughly? By rough estimation, let’s assume half of the students drive. 500 spots reduced down to 30. Yeah, like that’s ever going to happen on a college campus. There will be accommodations made or else there will be A LOT of angry parents complaining. I don’t know about your guy’s parents but I know mine don’t really have the time / desire to drive me out and drive back home just to pick me up and drop me off.

Reading Sephorazns18’s post, my 2 hour drive seems like cake. If the student population is composed of 1/3 from Norcal, 1/3 Central/Bay Area, and 1/3 from Socal, then many will NEED parking no matter what.

Protesting is a viable option. The administration needs to know that this decision doesn’t sit well with the student populace. Let’s see how far up the chain our petition can go.
