Freshman parking reduced to 30 spots?!

To Sephorazn18: Honestly, I feel cheated. I chose UC Merced because of its distance away from my home and my plan was to drive home each weekend so I can help my parents out.

To be told this so late into the student registration process, actually to be told this AFTER we have already registered is just plain deceptive and unfair. I’m actually angry at this decision. I didn’t choose to apply to UCI and UCSB because of the distance and to now find out the school that I have sacrificed for is cutting out my transportation option is just plain ********.

I will bet my life that UC Merced knew that they should have built more dorm rooms and its just plain inevitable that the campus would grow larger. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that sooner or later new dorms will have to be built. That is, unless the staff is truly that ignorant when it comes to estimating incoming enrollment.

This issue should have been brought up BEFORE or DURING registration, NOT AFTER. To me, this seems like a stunt that UCM has pulled after seeing that we really don’t have another choice after we submit our SIR. We’ve already signed the contract so they can do whatever they please now. I mean honestly, I see no other way of resolving this issue other than protesting.

It’s unfair, deceptive and just plain ignorant…and it’s not the first time either. Shame on you, UCM. Seems like they’ll do anything to increase their enrollment…
