I loved the book Colleges that Change Lives and it represents a collection of small personal schools that sometimes go under the radar screen. Not everyone likes the book especially people competitive or especially prestige, but since I consider those two traits character defects, I ignore it. GREAT BOOK!!

I concur with Macalester, Lawrence, St. Mary’s College of Maryland (not religous state honor college), also recommend Hamilton, Mt. Holyoke, UVM (although bigger than you want -super friendly and politically active), maybe, if like Phili, Muhlenberg, Ursinus really friendly but not as politically active as others, great academics.

I don’t know how you are getting into Haverford with 3.7 and top 10%, that seems like a reach unless your a “hooked” applicant
