Friend's DH having nervous breakdown - need suggestions for treatment

I’m gonna throw out there some non-medical advice, though it touches on the medical world. Of course, the gentleman should get psychological help, and medical advice. But could it partly be a function of his lifestyle–overly stressful, demanding work, little family connection, etc.?

When my H was a pediatrician divided between a mobile clinic dealing with very poor, issue-filled patients, and hospital floor overseeeing dealing with same, with no break, ever, from unbelievable stress, and broached his issues to his department chair, the advice they gave him was–take meds, everyone else here does already. Instead, he quit his job and changed professions, and is now a different guy, really. Much much happier. And saner.

Not saying, again, that your friend’s H isn’t ill, but look at life circumstances, too.
