<p>That’s a pretty high attrition rate for the class of 2011.
Interestingly, I believe USAFA will officially record an entering class of 1223. The official enrollment for the class of 2011 will be based on Acceptance Day rather than I-day.</p>
<p>Concerning the earlier discussion about a limit of 1000 graduates per year - I think there is a congressional limit of 4000 on the academy enrollment rather than on the size of the graduating class. Theoretically the academy could graduate 1000 out of an enrollment of 4000, but it isn’t going to happen. Sometimes the enrollment probably goes a little over 4000, but congress doesn’t really seem to care all that much about it.</p>
<p>In the '50’s all the academies had MANY fewer cadets enrolled. Later congress allowed for increased admissions to provide for an expanded military.</p>
