Message From a Sooner Fan

Let me start by saying “thank you” from a Sooner alum traveling from Texas to attend the game in Tallahassee on Saturday.

We’ve played all 3 Florida schools in the state of Florida in the past 5 years, and I can honestly say you guys are by far the classiest and best fans of the bunch. In fact, I rank y’all right up there with Nebraska as the best fans I’ve encountered in my many road game experiences. We were offered food and beverages by almost every tailgate we walked past and everyone I talked to genuinely cared about showing us a good time. We were the only OU fans in our section, yet we had great conversations throughout the game with the FSU fans surrounding us. I could go on and on, and I haven’t even talked about the beautiful scenery (the city, the campus, the women).

As for the atmosphere, all I can say is “wow”. From Chief Osceola’s flaming spear to the final snap, that was the most impressive atmosphere I’ve ever seen. We’re proud of our home field advantage in Norman, but I’ve only seen us even get close to Saturday night’s level one time (against Texas Tech in '08), and even that can’t compete. My ears were still ringing when I got home from the game.

On to the game, I haven’t seen a better defense performance than we saw Saturday night. Both teams were flying around, hitting hard and blanketing receivers all night. In my opinion, FSU is officially ‘back’ - the coaching, talent and swagger are all back to 90s level and we were beyond fortunate to pull this one off.

Thanks again for a great weekend. I will forever remember my time in Tallahassee, and will root for FSU everytime they play anyone but OU.
FSU = First Class all the way.
