FSU Rogers Hall -Fall 2012

Hmm… Well then again, on Saturday, I did spend most of my time watching the people move in (I had nothing else going on lol). Yesterday I stayed mostly in the music practice rooms… so I didn’t see much action

yeah true you were totally missing the action yesterday hah. I mean it could have been worse I just have a feeling there will a lot of cars that will sit idle for quite some time since many are underclassmen who brought their cars, lol.
I just can’t wait until Monday now, finally experience the craziness in full effect.

I was really hoping the thermostat was set at one temp at Rogers and it wouldn’t be an issue. I was so wrong. Roommate cranked it and it was almost 80° in our apartment. That is not normal. I set it at 74° which is normal. Hopefully I see her tomorrow so we can discuss this. Who the hell wants it at 80° in a tiny apartment?!
What the hell is going to happen during the winter months?! I enjoyed living on my own for that brief amount of time.

moved into Rogers hall. Depsite all the negative things I heard about this place, I don’t mind it, the space is bigger than expected. There’s more furniture and storage space than expected (lots of shelving). The smell ain’t so bad. It’s relatively quiet compared to the hotel I stayed at down the road before. I have all the comforts of home.

No sign of my room mate as of yet. So, I have it to myself for now. My guess is tomorrow if not Sunday or else I don’t have one. :P

I’m picking up WiFi from somewhere in here, this will do until I buy a cheapo Ethernet cable tomorrow, wonder who’s running it? Nice OTA TV coverage (why pay for cable?) too but, that’s expected being in a city.

Depending on where you are in Rogers, you can get both the FSUWIN and FSUSecure WiFi. Apparently Rogers was one of the buildings that they added WiFi to in the last few months. I still recommend getting a cheap ethernet cord (depending on where you wanna use your laptop in the apartment, I’d suggest anywhere from 3 feet to 25 feet).

Since [you can get a 25 foot ethernet cable on Amazon for about $3.50 shipped](http://www.amazon.com/25-Foot-Category-Cat5e-Ethernet-Patch/dp/B000BRO3PA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345875599&sr=8-1&keywords=25+foot+ethernet+cable), I’d recommend probably just getting one of them, just in case you want to use your laptop say, in your bedroom or something.

80°??? That’s insane… I don’t even go that far. Mine was at 69 when I moved in and thankfully, my roommate didn’t mind if I turned it up a bit. 71 is fine for me. Though sometimes it does get hot but then it kind of cools down.

I’m having a horrible time at Rogers. If my roommate didn’t suck so bad I wouldn’t be so frustrated. I’ve been paired with a child and I don’t feel the need to tell her constantly to clean up her ****, she splashes water everywhere, leaves crumbs everywhere, still leaves temp @80 when I told her not to, she snores and she is noisy when I’m trying to sleep.
I’m taking 18 credit hours and she’ll be only taking 12. I’m going to lose my mind here. I’m to the point where I just want to sleep in a nearby hotel.

Hang in there papertiger, hang in there :/… or take plan B

Thanks
She’s getting better about the AC so that’s good and she’s started cleaning up after herself now. So that is a major relief. I think I’ll survive this semester. It’s just so weird sharing a room with someone you barely know. I liked Ragans and having my own room & privacy, but oh well.

:) Yeah I know what you mean. Almost everyone likes their own little space to themselves. Thank goodness my roommate is very easy to get along with

Well that’s really good you’re getting along well. Especially since it’s your first semester here as a transfer, right?

It is, yes! And my classes seem to be on a good start so far

That’s good! It’s nice to be apart of a real college atmosphere with professors that enjoy what they are teaching. Can’t wait until we start diving into lectures. All I had were intros & attendance.
I’m looking forward to the weekend though. First FSU game this Saturday!!

Same here. and oh yes!! I keep forgetting to call in to get my ticket lol

Oh you can do it online. You need to activate your account and then you can get your ticket straight to your fsu ID.

My roommate is easy to get along with also. Just wished I had more privacy working on some of my projects (non-academic ones) but, that’s expected using the desk side by side. Other than that, the transition from CC to FSU has been smooth so far. My classes seem easier than I expected. The walk for them isn’t bad at all.

Pasbal, I didn’t see your post beforehand but, I did end up buying a 25ft Ethernet cable anway. It’s handy for using laptop/game consoles in the room.

I’m getting along much better with my roommate, and I’m getting used to Rogers. There are just certain things I’m not okay with. I’m tired of being bothered by the maintainence guy and it’s got to the point that I make sure I get back to Rogers after I know that he’s gone. I can’t come back to make lunch or just catch a break between classes because of him.
I also am finding it difficult to focus and study here. I am taking a max course load and there is no where for me to study except the library, but it’s a struggle to focus there as well…even in the Quiet Zones.
I need absolute quiet and my own space to focus otherwise I get easily distracted.
I haven’t eaten in weeks, this is ridiculous.

You mean the tall maintenance guy with glasses?? He’s a nice guy!! And wow eaten in weeks?? hmmmm… lol

Nope not him.
