Caltech actively recruits girls in STEM. Their M-F ratio is not good compared to MIT.
My oldest went through the college process 9 years ago (time flies) and got that from Dartmouth. Requested info but never visited and Dartmouth never made the final list. I was very surprised at the time to see such a selective school do that. So, not a new thing at all.
After D was at UCLA for a couple months we got a nice card from some official UCLA saying congratulations and welcome.
Weirdly, it didn’t include the sender’s office or title, just their name. A google search and a search on UCLA’s website didn’t turn up their name either.
The cutest was the University of Wyoming, it had something about needing a cowboy? We put that one out for a while because it was funny.
My daughter once took a screenshot of a stack of college emails In her inbox. Their subject lines were things like, “we’ve been watching you” and “we’ve got our eye on you” and such. She thought they were creepy and stalker-ish. We all got a laugh. Safe to say none of them got applications.
Yes- my daughter would get these as well.
Now in college she gets the invitations to honors societies. When she doesn’t respond or join she gets emails that start with:
We are disappointed in you Jane…
Um, not the way to get her to join.
