Furlough is over

OP, if you were furloughed and were able to receive unemployment and some nice life perks like talking to your grand daughters daily count your blessings for that time and opportunity.

You have to look at the whole picture - many people need your doctors and staff to be there for their health and well being. It is a needed, critical service. It might be your decision now to decide if this is the job you want to spend your time at, and while I do think 24 hours notice is not ok without any previous indication, I think being that team player is what you’re being asked to do.

It will be like the night before that first day of school we used to struggle with when we were young! But once the first day is over hopefully you will feel more possible.

@abasket I am ready to go back to work; it is the lack of communication I was surprised about. With 17 clinics, all with staff returning, you know this decision was not made last night. Actually, when I spoke to my manager, she mentioned she thought about texting me last week so I would expect the call. Seems a few of the locations had people come back last week. I just had to scramble today to do some rearranging of appointments and grocery delivery. One of my appointments will have to be scheduled with the PA instead of the physician as he doesn’t work on Friday afternoons, the only time I have off. Not a huge deal as I have seen the PA prior; I was just looking forward to seeing the physician this year when I could. I have no PTO left as I used it it all up in advance last year when my dad was sick and died and then my daughter had her first by c section out of town. I had hope to have days available by now as we had a trip planned, which of course we aren’t

Again, I am sure I could have started next week, but the solo girl in HR doesn’t get it. Had my manager called, she would be more sympathetic and most likely would have given me until Monday; we are currently closed on Friday, so I am working Thursday, then off until Monday. It might take me all day to remember how to post claims and payments again! It has been almost 2.5 months since I have been in the office; the 23 year old is going to have to show me how we do the televisits as I left right as they were getting ready to start them.

When I spoke to my manager yesterday, I asked if I could have my email back, as they turned us all off the day we were furloughed. I wanted to see what had been going on while i was out, and to read the directions on how to handle the telemed calls. I know a good bit went out as I was receiving the patient emails as I am also a patient of one of the doctors. Manager said she would try to send those to me, but I might have to get with our IT people to get access to my email and other log in to systems tomorrow. Maybe someone could have thought in advance to get those going back to work up and running before we came the first day! I will know have to be on the phone with them for 15-30 minutes in the morning before I can actually do any work.

Sorry to vent; it just seems silly that a company this big can’t figure this out. I know the Pandemic is new for all, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that everyone returning to work with need computer access with multiple log ins. So me being me and wanting to be prepared will go in early to get set up before patient appointment time.
