If you are accepted as a Midyear, you are considered an accepted student. Brandeis doesn’t let midyear students go on the waitlist for fall semester, and if a spot opens up, it will go to a person already on the waitlist. You can always try persuading them, but this happens every year and I’m pretty sure the admissions office has never let midyears take a vacant spot in the fall.

I know it sucks now, but once the midyears arrive in January, they form really close bonds with each other because they’re all in the same position, and after the first semester, they are basically integrated into the class anyway that people don’t care or ask if they were a midyear or not.

My advice would be for her to maybe contact other midyears in the Facebook group and get to know them, just so she knows other people are going through the same thing too. Also have her do something fun and worthwhile with her semester off.
