Gallatin vs. College of Arts and Science

You can apply as an internal transfers if you’re accepted into CAS. Or apply after you’re finished with LSP if you’re accepted into LSP. However, being a current NYU student, here’s how most students view Gallatin:

 1. It’s very expensive to get a degree that isn’t as widely accepted/recognized as a degree from CAS/Stern/Tisch - Mostly because there are not stringent general education requirements, therefore most employers will want to see degrees from CAS/Stern/Tisch. Gallatin is more for driven students seeking graduate study later on and before employment.
 2. Most students here, at least the ones I know, refer to Gallatin as the school where you major in kittens and minor in cupcakes. A lot of students take CAS/Stern/Tisch very seriously and consider Gallatin to be a much easier school and therefore disregard it.
