her efc is 14k? for an applicant to be accepted, her efc must be below 3750. otherwise, the student is out of luck.

To vega07:
Thank you for replying
I will ask her what her EFC is. If it’s above 3750, I guess I’ll…wait for a while to let her know, or at least when she hears back from Gates. I don’t know…I just don’t wanna make her cry or upset… :\ She deserves a good scholarship.

our efc was 0 our daughter has been accepted into USC, UCSD, UCSB and claremont mckenna but we have heard nothing from gates. Is there anyway to check online if she is a finalist or anything?

Languages1, I don’t believe you can check online. I think they only send notification by e-mail and postal mail. However, I believe the website mentions notifying everyone who applied whether they were a finalist or not.

I checked the mail today and I was chosen as a Gates Millenium Scholar (Actual scholar, not to be confused with second phaser). I am so excited. Best of luck to the rest of you guys. Hopefully you get your big packets either today or monday. (I applied through HSF if anybody is curious)

did you receive an email?

To Jharrett: Congratulations. I know you and your family must be very happy.

Jharrett: do you remember when you sent your verification papers in?

Just2Fitz: No, I didn’t get an email unfortunately (I might have found out sooner, lol) It comes in the mail in a large packet

naansian: I sent in my materials the day I advanced to the second phase (March 13th)

Jharrett: What state do you live in?

Wow, I should send in my stuff soon, then! Ditto on the questions for Jharrett.

They’ve called my house like 6 times, lmao. XD

I live in Texas.

congratulations jharrett!

this must be a very exciting time for you and your family.

Congrats!! Hopefully I’ll be feeling the same way too.

Wow! Congrats. Hopefully, I’d also be selected. Now I’m so eager seeing as someone as been selected as a scholar.:)

congrats Jharrett!!!
I saw in last year’s thread that the sooner you send your stuff in the faster you get your notification
I sent in everything on the 15th, so I might recieve notification any day now
I’m so nervous now…

congrats Jharrett, btw.

i, too, sent my stuff in on the 13

Yay, I’m so happy to hear you guys sent in your stuff early too. Soon I’ll have some people to have a CC party with :p.

what was your GPA, if you would like to share?

Umm…like a 3.9something unweighted.

Weighted…is complicated. I went to a performing arts school where all acting, singing, and dancing classes get honors weighting and then my counselor is too lazy to convert all my stuff on a 5.0 scale. I have gotten could grades in all of my honors and APs, etc. I am taking 8 this year, so it should be high, but I do not know what it is. Sorry.
