Emails are out y’all
Has anyone from NC received their letter? I’m Native American, and I haven’t received any notification by mail or email yet.
If it’s like last year there’s two batches of emails. First they notify the scholars then they send a different email to the non-select @nativenc
I haven’t received an email.
Those who have received letters of acceptance, have you received an email?
@nativenc all you can do is wait
@nativenc i received my letter of acceptance on Monday and received the email at 1:00 pm pacific time
Just found out that I am a Gates Scholar through email!!! Asian American from Houston, Texas!!! Best day ever!!!

@2ne1islife Congratulations!
I got it!!! OMG I found at at 1 o clock today lol, it took some time to sink in xD I’m so ecstatic, I can’t believe it! This is a blessing, I will graduate debt free and with the support of an amazing program <3 I’m a latina from South Los Angeles!
@brendalil congrats ! I’m a Latina from south Los Angeles too high five !
Congratulations @brendalil and all other students that have been awarded the scholarship!
Thanks for the support everyone!
Real late, but my daughter got notice yesterday that she is a Gates scholar!
I swear I cried for days, because this will give my daughter the opportunity to graduate debt free.
African American from Georgia. I am so proud of her.
Does anyone know how we are supposed to inform gates on which school we will be attending?
Thank you for explaining this for me this has helped me a lot
So does anyone know if gates covers any loans that were awarded will we be penalized if we decide to take them out and not decline them? I’m just curious as it might be nice for my son to have a little something to help with living expenses. Also on our SAR our EFC was like 3000 and we were offered a parent loan but declined that. We don’t have $3000 to come out of pocket so Im thinking one of the loans he was offered might help cover that.
Another question I have is could my son decide to go out of state next year to school and they will cover those fees for out of state?? Only asking as our family maybe moving out of state and would be nice if he could come too.
This may have been answered already - sorry for repeating if so, but let’s say I owe $5000 to attend school next year and I win another scholarship for $5000. Would GATES be billed 1st and pay the $5000 so my school can refund me the other $5000 to help with other expenses?
