<p>It was open up until Jan 15, when the application period closed. There’s about 3200 people in the group. You can still join, but you need to be added by someone already in the group. Also, it seems right that Hispanics living in California are already receiving their letters — considering that the Hispanic branch is located in LA. </p>

<p>Good luck to all! My daughter was a Gates Scholar six years ago. She attended a school that covered everything…but work study. Gates covered that. It was a paltry amount each semester but it allowed my daughter tdo other things that she would not been able to do if she was working a job.

<p>Looking through all the postings so far (from the people in the continetial U.S.), it appears as though most of those that have heard anything have been people w/ either an AA or Hispanic background. And either in the northeast or So Cal. Anyone with an Asian background and / or near the Houston area receive any type of notification? </p>
