Gates Millennium Scholarship 2013-2014

Got my letter today. I’m Hispanic but my letter came from UNCF strangely.

Not selected as scholar but I received a full ride scholarship from UMD. You win some, you lose some haha

@Sinaj haha, we won’t :smiley:

@AmbitionMission‌ What state are you from? Congratulations on your full ride!

@rhythmandbible‌ Thank you! And I live in Landover, MD. Fairly close to DC

so if letters are mailed from LA (for hispanics) would we possibly get our letters today, if we live in the same state?

Last year, weren’t they all mailed from UNCF?

So letters are going to both, those who won and those who didn’t? I thought just those that were awarded would get letters and then all would get an email by 21st according to a previous poster. Okay, so no celebration or tears until you actually open the letter.

someone from LA just got their letter today!

@Sinaj‌, you’ll actually know just by the size of the mail. Selected scholars get a big white envelope (that still fits in your mailbox) and non-selects get a regular sized envelope.

@AmbitionMission I should be getting a letter today too since I’m in Virginia…or maybe tomorrow since I’m closer to North Carolina… Aye Dios Mio!

Just notified from DC! Gates Millennium Class of 2014 Scholar., this is perhaps the best day ever!!

@SwatBoy Congratulations again!!! What’s your ethnicity?

African American

hispanic-american in southern California… no letter yet!
anybody get theirs?

@SwatBoy‌ Awesome, me too.

@Shutterstock Someone from LA did, but since Cali is such a large state, I’m sure there will be some disparity between when different people receive their letters. I’m in Virginia, and I haven’t received anything, while others in Maryland and DC have. Also, it could depend on your ethnic group so…

@SWatboy, what state are you in?

@LanaHere @SwatBoy is from DC.

Anyone from New York heard anything as of yet?

@rhythmandbible Thanks
